Adelaide university launches Master of Virtual Production course
Aug 5, 2022
An Adelaide university is set to launch the Master of Virtual Production in semester one of 2023.
The new degree from Flinders University will cover everything from virtual production, motion capture, virtual reality and visual effects. It will be taught at Flinders’ purpose-built motion caption studio, The Void, with the university’s practising virtual production specialist Jason Bevan and The Void’s lead technician Cameron Mackness.
The programme will see students using the same state-of-the-art technologies as Disney in what is the only studio of its kind in South Australia. Lots of companies in the state use The Void to experiment and test new technologies.
The degree will be Australia’s only university course with a virtual production studio embedded in the education. The university’s industry partners include Technicolor and Motion Picture Company, Facewear Tech, Unreal Engine, and Fika Entertainment.
Prospective students do not need a portfolio to enrol – all that’s required is a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
