Meet the organisations taking important steps towards a more sustainable film and television industry.
Get Set Hire
At Get Set Hire we have everything you could possibly need for your TV or film production: from Motorola radios to director’s chairs, from costume and makeup packages to heaters, from tents to temporary power solutions, right down to paper roll and tape. And it’s all under one roof. What does that mean for you? One call and everything’s sorted.
Get Set Hire was created by former props master, Paul Miller. Having worked on TV commercials and film for over 20 years, Paul saw the need for a fast and reliable production hire company that could deliver all the behind-the-scenes equipment, flexibly and sustainably, the same day or next day in a proactive and friendly way.
We are supporters of AdGreen and BAFTA albert and we’re always working hard to reduce the TV and film industry’s impact on the environment, as well as reducing our own carbon footprint.

From our first job for Channel 4 back in 2012, Get Set Hire’s driving ambition has been to help make your shoot or event go as smoothly as we possibly can.
“I’ve always had a fantastic experience for the ten years I have been hiring production supplies from GSH!” Bethany, production manager, ITV.
Green Kit
Green Kit was founded in 2012 by Pat McEnallay in response to feedback he had received from gaffers and DPs who wanted to be more sustainable in their filmmaking but lacked the lighting tools to achieve this ambition. Green Kit is now the UK’s leading supplier of LED film lights with over 150 different low energy lights available to hire to film and TV productions.
“The new LED fixtures have so many cool features I can see that plastic gels and diffusion are going to be redundant in a few years. Less plastic waste on set is good for production budgets and for the planet,” says McEnallay.
In addition to this great range of lights, Green Kit now has an extensive list of large batteries and portable electric generators. McEnallay explains: “Batteries are the next game changer for our industry. Clients are looking for no-emission, silent, portable power on set and the technology is moving fast. We want to invest in the best battery options for our clients whatever the size of their project.”
He adds, “In an industry like ours which is all about relationships we like to help our clients solve film lighting problems. I like to think it’s the combination of great kit, friendly service and a sustainable ethos that keeps our clients coming back, but it could also be that gaffers and DPs are lighting geeks like us!”
ROE Visual
As the industry sharpens its focus on sustainability, virtual production presents a practical pathway to reducing the carbon footprint of modern filmmaking. By reducing international travel, downsizing location crews, and eliminating temporary set builds, LED volume stages offer a tangible reduction in emissions without compromising creative scope.
ROE Visual LED solutions have established themselves as reference-grade tools for cinematographers operating within HDR and ACES colour-managed workflows. With high-contrast LED architecture and calibration that supports both DCI-P3 and Rec 2020 gamuts, ROE Visual LED panels have proven to maintain colour fidelity under dynamic lighting conditions—critical for in-camera VFX, where virtual lighting must react seamlessly with physical fixtures.
Beyond image precision, the operational efficiency of in-camera VFX delivers measurable sustainability gains by reducing reliance on data-intensive post pipelines. Capturing final pixels on set minimises additional rendering passes, cloud compute hours, and reshoots—significant yet often overlooked contributors to energy use across the production lifecycle.
As productions align creative intent with environmental accountability, ROE Visual LED volumes demonstrate that sustainability and high-end cinematography can successfully coexist.
Sunbelt Rentals
Sunbelt Rentals is a forerunner in eco-innovation for film, TV, and events, offering sustainable equipment solutions that reduce emissions, fuel use, and noise while enhancing operational efficiency.
A standout example is our Hybrid Gen Truck, developed in collaboration with the BBC for Silent Witness. This 18-tonne vehicle combines a 154kW battery with a 100kVA HVO-fuelled generator, consolidating lighting, generator, and storage functions into a single unit. By eliminating the need for extra drivers or transport, it simplifies logistics while cutting costs. On Silent Witness, lighting generator runtime dropped from 3–4 hours per day to just 30 minutes, with battery efficiency averaging 76%, delivering substantial fuel, CO₂, and cost savings.

Beyond this, our eco-fleet includes solar-powered tower lights, battery storage units, and energy management systems. We supply the latest camera technology, energy-efficient LED lighting, and eco-vehicles for grip such as the Eco-Scorpion, alongside portable battery systems including Wattmans and Instagrid. Additional measures, including data monitoring and HEPA filtration, further enhance sustainability and air quality on set.
By combining innovative technology, operational efficiency, and environmental responsibility, Sunbelt Rentals delivers practical, measurable sustainability benefits while supporting productions in achieving their green and carbon-reduction goals.
