The Evolution Mallorca International Film Festival (EMIFF) celebrated its growing presence in the international film community with the successful hosting of its 2nd annual Mallorca meets Berlinale Reception, attended by over 40 special guests. This event further amplifies EMIFF’s commitment to fostering creativity and enhancing its visibility on the global stage.

The reception featured prominent figures in the film industry, including Festival Director Sandra Lipski, Festival Manager Maria Calafat, and VP of Festival Development and co-founder of the Cinematography Focus, Rainer Lipski. Notable attendees included award-winning filmmakers such as producer Rafael Thomaseto, Director of the Mallorca Film Commission Pedro Barbadillo, actress Nina Rausch, founder of Mallorca Specials Productions Fabian Jöst, Kolibri Productions CEO Khalil Al Harbiti, and Leitz Market Development Manager Vika Safrigina, among others.

During her speech at the event, Festival Director Sandra Lipski announced the official festival dates for the 14th edition: “We are thrilled to share that the Evolution Mallorca International Film Festival will take place from October 21 to 29, 2025. In response to the enthusiasm surrounding our Cinematography Focus, we are excited to extend the festival by two days. Additionally, we will be moving our Opening Gala to the modern Palau de Congressos, managed by Melia Hotels, on October 21, and the Closing Night Gala, featuring our Awards Ceremony, will be held at the historic Teatre Principal, Palma’s iconic opera house, on October 29.”

EMIFF is also pleased to announce that the world-renowned real estate giant Engel & Völkers has renewed their partnership for a second consecutive year. Engel & Völkers plays a vital role in supporting the festival’s mission and promoting the vibrant cultural atmosphere that makes Mallorca a unique event for local and international artists and filmmakers alike.

EMIFF is currently accepting submissions via the FilmFreeway platform across various categories, including Feature Film, Debut Feature Film, Documentary Feature, Short Film, Experimental Short Film, and an extended Screenplay competition for Feature, Short, and Made in Baleares projects.

As we eagerly anticipate new projects for the 2025 program, we would like to celebrate two alumni projects from 2024 that have received nominations for the 2025 Academy Awards: I’m Not A Robot, nominated for Best Live Action Short Film, and Porcelain War, nominated for Best Documentary Feature Film.
