Winners announced for the 2024 BUFF Film Awards

The winners of the 10th British Urban Film Festival Awards have been announced at a special ceremony at the Genesis Cinema in Mile End, hosted by Mosique Lavontelle, Fee Mak and Linda E. The BUFF Awards is the traditional annual celebration of creative excellence showcased during the week long film festival which was hosted this year in Halifax, West Yorkshire and East London.
Dynamite received two awards for Director Uche Aguh, including for Best Soundtrack (Usman Adams) and Best Supervision (The Amanda Nally Award).
White Guilt won Best Feature for Director Marcus Flemmings (The Victor Adebodun Award).
Hannah Griffiths won Best Actress for The Deal (The Blessing Anyiam-Osigwe Award).
Frederick Yeboah won Best Actor for God is Grey; Shaking Hands With The Devil won Best Documentary for Director Olz McCoy; Syncope won Best Short Film for Director Linus Von Stumberg; Home Office won Best Animation for co-directors Endre Lund Eriksen and Daniel Damm.
First time winners also included Luke Hunter who received the Live Script award for Acid; Andrew Goth for The Die Is Cast; and Rachel Walsh-Williams for Hear My Song.
Teddy Nygh was awarded the British Urban Film Festival Honorary Award presented by Broadcaster & Presenter Remel London.
The co-founder of Fully Focused Productions and Million Youth Media was recognised for his outstanding contribution to film and television from fellow actors and peers including Ashley Walters, Richie Campbell, Joivan Wade and Percelle Ascott.
12 competitive awards in total were presented across the evening with special guests in attendance including performing artists Morgan and Shingai Shoniwa and actor Adrian Dunbar. The ceremony was recorded for broadcast and will be streamed online later in the Autumn.
