ARRI Rental

ARRI Rental’s in-house lens program began with the Prime 65 series, launched with the ALEXA 65 camera in 2015. Featuring a sensor the same size as a 65mm film frame, lenses that covered the format were in short supply, which led to ARRI Rental developing further solutions.

Subsequent collaborations with top cinematographers resulted in the Prime DNA series, also for 65mm, comprising diverse vintage optics in new lens housings. Their immediate success led to a DNA LF series for large format.

Next, ARRI Rental developed the ALFA anamorphics, again evolving a detuned look through direct collaborations with leading DPs. Having acquired the capability to manufacture new housings for the DNA LFs, ARRI Rental used the same techniques to re-engineer vintage Moviecam lenses, transplanting the 1970s glass into modern lens casings.

The most recent addition to ARRI Rental’s offering is the HEROES collection, which offers small sets of quirky optics that supplement the main lens set on a production. HEROES launched with the LOOK lenses, featuring a look dial for on-set detuning, and T.ONE lenses, with a super-fast aperture of T1.0.

Cooke

It is no secret that Cooke lenses have been revered among cinematographers since the company was founded in 1893. This was pioneered by the legendary vintage Speed Panchro series, which became the lens choice for Hollywood from the 1920s through to the 1960s. The craftsmanship of the glass was so admired that the Panchros have been re-housed for successive generations.

Fast forward to today, and you’ll see Cooke’s lens line-up to fulfil every filmmaker’s need. As well as PL glass, this now includes lenses for mirrorless cameras with the SP3 series. The SP3s are inspired by the original Speed Panchro but reimagined and optimised for full-frame mirrorless sensors.

Innovation is in the Cooke DNA, which is especially apparent with the S8/i FF series: a spherical lens precisely tuned for digital sensors but with all the character of ‘The Cooke Look’. Cooke continues to develop today, without compromising on integrity.

Leitz

With their expansive offering of Leitz Cine lenses, Ernst Leitz Wetzlar offers cinematographers more options for looks and formats than almost any other manufacturer. With seven different sets of primes and a pair of full frame zooms, Leitz has you covered.

The Leitz ELSIE prime lenses offer a unique character for a wide range of productions through a blend of subtle field curvature and gradual falloff with dynamic flares wide open. The Leitz HUGO series offers the most compact T1.5 full frame lenses available with the character of Leica’s iconic M photography glass. The 25-75mm and 55-125mm Leitz ZOOMs complement all Leitz lenses for a complete shooting package. For industry-leading performance, the Leitz PRIMEs T1.8 bring edge-to-edge clarity and detail with gorgeous, soft skin tones.

Recent titles using Leitz lenses include: Horizon: An American Saga, Only Murders in the Building, Lee, The Substance, and Nowhere
