Feb 27, 2021

La Biennale di Venezia (Venice International Film Festival) has announced the call for the Venice Gap-Financing Market, being launched on the website. The call will remain open until 16 May 2021.

The eighth edition of the Venice Gap-Financing Market will be held between 3-5 September 2021, as part of the Venice Production Bridge of the 78th Venice International Film Festival (1 – 11 September 2021) directed by Alberto Barbera.

The Venice Gap-Financing Market is a platform for selected projects that aims to support European and international producers in securing full financing for their projects (Fiction, Documentaries, VR Immersive Story Projects), through one-to-one meetings with professionals in the field (producers, sales agents, distributors, financiers, broadcasters and funds). All the invited professionals are decision-makers.

The call is open to European and international projects, in the following categories:

  • feature-length fiction and documentary films: a selection will be made of up to 27/33 projects for feature-length films and narrative or creative feature documentaries, including 3 Biennale College Cinema projects, from all over the world. There is no genre limitation, and animation films are welcome.
  • VR Immersive Stories: there will be a selection of up to 10/12 VR projects from all over the world.

The 3-day event (3 – 5 September 2021) will present up to 45 European and international projects and VR Immersive Story projects developed during the Biennale College Cinema Virtual Reality.
