Sep 10, 2024
Tokina Cinema is proud to announce the release of its latest Vista lens capable of covering full-frame sensors: the Cinema Vista 100mm T2.9 Macro. This cutting-edge new cinema lens is a 1:1 macro with exceptional performance. Perfect for capturing the intricate details in close-up shots of people and objects, it has a minimum focus distance of 30cm / 11.9 inches. It has a large area of definition of 46.7mm, which means it easily covers full-frame and Vista Vision sensors, and some even larger sensors. Engineered for the discerning cinematographer, the lens has exceptional image performance that exceeds current sensor resolution – guaranteeing its usefulness as camera sensors improve.
This true macro lens capability frees the cinematographer from the limitations of using close-up diopters on traditional telephoto lenses. There is no need to worry about unwanted edge fall-off or time lost changing between diopter values when repositioning. Instead, the Cinema Vista 100mm T2.9 Macro offers an impressive flat-field image, maintaining clarity and precision right across the entire frame. The lens has a fast T-stop of T2.9, minimized lens breathing, and features a nine-blade iris for smoother bokeh – a combination that also allows it to function as a portrait lens with strong performance.
Tokina Cinema has long been considered a master of macro lenses with the original Tokina Cinema AT-X 100mm T2.9 Macro being widely praised and extensively used on productions worldwide. The new Cinema Vista 100mm T2.9 Macro lens builds on this exceptional reputation in macro filmmaking.
It is beautifully designed and constructed, bearing all the hallmarks of being created by a master Japanese lens manufacturer. The body of the Tokina Cinema AT-X 100mm T2.9 Macro is all-metal and weighs 1.3kg/46.2oz, with an in-built threaded lens support for increased macro shooting stability.
The geared focus and iris rings are incredibly smooth and well-dampened, with a long focus throw for perfect accuracy. It has a 95mm front diameter for wide compatibility with matte boxes, and a 86mm filter thread that can be used to attach round filters if required. As with other Tokina Vista lenses it features an interchangeable lens mount that can be exchanged with PL, Canon EF, Sony E or MFT mount options.
Pricing and availability for the Tokina Cinema Vista 100mm T2.9 Macro will be announced shortly.
