The third edition of the Sony Future Filmmaker Awards is now open

It feels like only yesterday the 30 filmmakers shortlisted in the 2024 edition were arriving at the Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, California, ready to take part in an industry immersion program. For the 2025 edition, we’re once again opening this opportunity to emerging talent worldwide!
This one-of-a-kind experience offers up-and-coming filmmakers a chance to ask all the questions they might have about the cinematic arts – and to get answers from leading voices in the American film industry.
New in 2025
The Sony Future Filmmaker Awards keeps on growing, changing and adapting every year to be its best edition yet.
This year, filmmakers have the chance to enter one of the four categories:

Fiction
-
Non-Fiction
-
Animation
-
Student
The Fiction and Non-Fiction categories now have a shortlist of up to 10, allowing the Awards to provide a platform for even more incredible short films from around the world. The Animation and Student categories both have a shortlist of up to five films. We can’t wait to see what you have been working on this year.
