Royal Television Society Scotland announces 2026 Programme Awards winners – George Cameron Geddes takes Camera

The Royal Television Society Scotland has announced the winners of its 2026 Programme Awards, with George Cameron Geddes taking Camera for his lensing of Grow.

Presenters Des Clarke and Shereen Cutkelvin handed out 28 awards to winners at Glasgow’s iconic Old Fruitmarket.

World Productions triumphed with The Bombing of Pan Am 103 leading the charge, securing three coveted awards including Director: Scripted, Sound (Craft) and Original Music Score for legendary Scottish band Mogwai.

Synchronicity Films also enjoyed a double-win night for its poignant project The Tattooist’s Son: Journey to Auschwitz, taking home the top prize for Documentary (Single) alongside multi-RTS award winner Stephen Bennett, who claimed Director: Non-Scripted.

Public interest and news journalism were strongly represented. 

BBC Scotland News walked away with the News award for Reporting Scotland, while BBC Scotland’s investigative team won Current Affairs for Disclosure: Care Home Undercover. The Young Journalist accolade was awarded to Gráinne Ní Ghréacháin of STV News North, and Libby Penman was celebrated as the year’s standout On-Screen Personality.

The Documentary (Series) category was awarded to Firecrest Films for their gripping work on The Hunt for Peter Tobin.

In the performance and writing tiers, Ewen Bremner received the Actor – Male award for his unforgettable role in Coldwater, while celebrated screenwriter Neil Forsyth won the Writer award for The Gold.

In the popular genres, BBC Studios Comedy’s beloved Two Doors Down took home the Comedy prize, while BBC Scotland’s Breaking the Year 25 earned the Entertainment title. 

In Factual formatting, Dragonfly Film & Television Productions’ Surgeons: At the Edge of Life impressed the jury with a double win spanning Specialist Factual and Post Production: Motion Design & Animation. 

IWC Media found success with Scotland’s Home of the Year winning Lifestyle & Features and also took home Post Production: Editing (Craft) for Angela Slaven’s work on Being Stanley Baxter.

The night also paid tribute to one of Scottish broadcasting’s most enduring icons. Broadcast journalist Sally Magnusson, who stepped down from her long-serving role as the flagship presenter of BBC Scotland’s Reporting Scotland in 2025, received the prestigious RTS Scotland Outstanding Achievement Award to a resounding standing ovation from her peers, honouring over three decades of exceptional public service journalism.
