ROGUE signs Simon Ratigan

Jun 14, 2023

ROGUE announce that Simon Ratigan has joined their roster.

A much-admired and respected director with a reputation for finding magic in the everyday, Simon creates films with heartwarming realism for clients including Eurostar, The Guardian, Amazon, Army, Waitrose and the NHS.

Simon has been directing commercials for over 25 years and during that time has won countless awards for his work, most notably ‘Stories Are Waiting’ for Eurostar and Army ‘Boots’, which won golds at both the British Arrows and Campaign Big awards.

Coming from a documentary filmmaking background, Simon has followed his instincts throughout his career leading him to become one of the most respected commercial directors in the UK.

Seeking out authentic, genuine moments is what Simon loves doing in his films. This is apparent in his work, in the little details, it’s these explains Simon, that make him tick. “The best filmmaking is natural – and for me those unscripted moments are the gold, the random elements that can create something really special. I help this happen by giving my complete trust to the whole cast and crew, so everyone can perform naturally and nothing is contrived. The real world is infinitely more amazing than fiction.”

So why ROGUE?  “Rogue is one of the best production companies in the business”, says Simon, “They have a strong and diverse roster of talent and are run by a tight team. I’ve been with HLA for my entire directing career so had to find the perfect fit, I know with Rogue I’ll be continuing the happiness and fun I had with HLA, but in a great new home.”

Rogue Founder Charlie Crompton comments on the new signing. “I’ve known Simon for a long time, have followed his career closely and always admired his work which no-one else could do as well as he does. He is a brilliant and generous director with a sensitive eye who always manages to capture those extra moments that look unplanned – but can make or break a film. Simon’s storytelling is emotional, cinematic and visually incredibly strong.  And everyone loves working with him which is why they keep coming back…  We’re delighted he has chosen to go Rogue and I’m really looking forward to making some great work together.

Partner and MD Kate Taylor says “Simon Ratigan is a wonderful addition to the Rogue roster. He’s a master storyteller with a delicate sensibility that makes his work beautifully engaging and effective. He’s the real deal, and we’re thrilled to have him on board”.
