What is the Resource Productions BFI Film Academy?
Led by Film Industry experts, the Resource Productions BFI Film Academy course covers every area of the filmmaking process, enabling young people aged 16-19 to gain a NCFE qualification and develop the commercial and cultural knowledge and skills needed to help make a career in film a reality. After completing their BFI Film Academy course, young people will have the chance to gain support and progress onto a range of ongoing filmmaking opportunities.
Who are Resource Productions?
We are a Youth and Community focused Film Company led by young Filmmakers and experienced Industry practitioners. Set up in 1999 from a youth centre in Slough, we now primarily work across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Surrey in partnership with the Pinewood Group.
When and where does the course take place?
All workshops will take place in Pinewood Studios (South Bucks) or Shepperton Studios (Surrey). Please Note: Location of courses may change in accordance with Government guidance regarding Covid-19.
The Shepperton Course will take place on five consecutive days from Monday 25th October 2021. The Pinewood Course will take place every Saturday for five Saturdays from 8th January 2022. Both courses conclude on Saturday 12th February 2022.
Day 1
Overview: Filmmaking Roles & NCFE Accreditation.
Day 2
Development: History of Film, Ideas Development & Scriptwriting.
Day 3
Film Pre-Production: Budgeting, Scheduling, Casting & Crewing.
Day 4
Film Production: Camera, Lighting, Sound & Shoot!
Day 5
Post Production and Distribution: Programming, Editing.
Day 6
Preview Screening for both courses at Pinewood Studios.
Please note: This course will take place in accordance with government Covid-19 guidelines.
What will happen at these workshops?
There will be the opportunity to meet Industry professionals each week, get hands-on experience of filmmaking with camera, sound, lighting and editing equipment and the chance to make a short film for your showreel and build up your CV for work or UCAS applications.
How much does it cost?
The course costs £25 to all successful applicants (bursaries are available).
How do I get involved?
Applications must be submitted by Monday 20th September 2021 (midnight). Interviews for shortlisted participants will take place on Sunday 9th October 2021. Register here.
