Promotions at Mission Digital as new services are launched

Mission Digital has promoted James Ian Gray to Head of Workflow, overseeing all DIT, Labs and Dailies services, amongst several other recent company promotions and moves.

The changes come as Mission Digital launches a host of new innovations, services and software to support the remote connectivity, automation and productivity of TV and film clients and projects. These include the Origami VFX pulls automation platform and on-set high-speed internet and storage, amongst others.

James worked his way up the company having joined Mission over 11 years ago as a DIT. This promotion recognises the great work he has been doing as the Digital Workflow Lead and as Head of Talent and Training.

“As the complexity of digital film production grows, robust, secure workflows are vital.’ said James. “The latest technology makes workflows much more efficient. We now manage many Labs remotely. Our new high-speed on-set internet service allows us to stream multiple terabytes of dailies footage directly to our team at Shepperton Studios and on to Post from the remotest of locations. It makes production budgets go further and ensures our clients can focus on their creative vision”, he continued. “It’s an exciting time to step up and lead the Team!”

Other recent moves within the company include the promotion of Jake Bentley from Data IO Technician to Head of Technology and Harry Ornstien moving from Production Assistant to Junior Producer.

Jake joined the company 5 years ago through the Mark Milsome Foundation. With Mission’s CTO, Tom Mitchell, focussing on the development of Origami, Jake has stepped up to oversee technology and service development.

After completing a Masters Degree at New York Film Academy, Harry joined Mission last February as a Production Assistant and now moves up to Junior Producer.

Mark Purvis, Mission Digital’s CEO said, “When it comes to hiring and promotion, Mission has always been a company that values a person’s potential over their experience. As a company that values agility and innovation we need to be surrounded by people with a fresh perspective that are capable and adaptable.”

He continued, “What we’re seeing now is such rapid and significant technological change in the film and TV industry, I believe what defines Mission is to never be complacent with how things have worked previously, but constantly looking to make improvements. The promotions we have made have delivered an immediate impact on the company and we’re just getting started.”
