Leyard Europe helps Frandroid’s new TV studio deliver best of tech news

Nov 27, 2023

Since 2008, French news platform Frandroid has been dedicated to disseminating information on innovation and supporting its readers throughout the entire lifecycle of their technological product purchases.

At the core of the company’s DNA lies a commitment to delivering up-to-the-minute news on cutting-edge technologies while ensuring that viewers fully understand these latest tech innovations. Located in the heart of Paris, Frandroid recently acquired a state-of-the-art Leyard VEM1.8 LED solution, installed by experienced integrator, Solutions Audiovisuelles (SAV). The new LED display is a part of the Frandroid’s new web TV studio, which was created to further expand the company’s global viewership.

Sylvain Piquois, Key Account Manager at SAV, expresses his enthusiasm when approached by the Frandroid team for a potential collaboration.

“Given Frandroid’s reputation as one of the foremost platforms for delivering the latest in tech news, we were thrilled when they reached out to us,” says Piquois. “The brief was clear-cut, as they were seeking a reputable company to supply an LED solution for their brand new web TV studio in Paris.”

In the face of stiff competition, the SAV team invited Frandroid to visit Leyard demo facility and witness the capabilities of Leyard’s VEM Series of fine pitch LED displays. “We conducted an extensive test using Frandroid’s planned camera equipment for the new studio. Our extensive track record in TV studios across the EU worked to our advantage and, following the demo, the Frandroid team was convinced that Leyard’s VEM1.8 LED display was the perfect solution for them, thanks to its cabinet design and attractive pricing,” continues Piquois.

The VEM Series’ flexible cabinet design enables easy formation of three- or four-sided shapes, making it ideal for creative display applications, with its special six-axis alignment features ensuring the video wall can be perfectly aligned and seamless.

These features became crucial during the configuration of the LED display in Frandroid’s studio. “We had to construct the screen at a precise 90-degree angle while still ensuring an optimal viewing experience,” adds Piquois. “With the full support of the Leyard team, who worked closely with us throught the process, we achieved a perfect 90-degree display with zero millimetre gap.”

“My experience of collaborating with the Leyard and SAV teams has been extremely satisfactory and professional,” says Arnaud Gelineau, Creative Producer & Team Manager at Frandroid. “From our first contact with Xavier [Guillermain, France Zone Manager at Leyard], I was enthusiastic about the presentation of the different technologies in their showroom. His technical mastery and in-depth explanations played a decisive role in our choice of supplier. This meeting established a climate of trust.”

Gelineau adds that, following their conversation with Guillermain and based on his recommendation, they established contact with SAV, and the experience turned out to be “equally remarkable”.

“The exchanges were as pleasant as they were constructive, and this happened in an efficient manner,” he adds, further noting that the project deployment went smoothly, considering both the technical constraints and Frandroid’s ambitions for the optimal use of the LED wall. “Each decision made for the installation was carefully aligned with these objectives,” he explains.

The Frandroid team closely supervised all stages of the installation phase, with SAV providing extensive training to ensure proper use of the screen.

“To this day, our regular use of the LED screen remains at the heart of our activities, especially during the live broadcast of our shows on Twitch, which involve our three media channels,” Gelineau states. “To meet our production needs, we connected the screen to a fully remote-controlled PC. This approach has automated all operations, simplifying the screen’s start-up and the display of content corresponding to each programme. The goal was to ensure absolute transparency in use.”

At the end of June, the studio went on air for the first time. After visiting Frandroid’s offices to ensure the LED display was functioning well, Piquois says that the client was exceptionally pleased with its performance, stating that it ticked “all their boxes”.

“I would like to express my deep satisfaction with this collaboration, which fulfilled our requirements and significantly contributed to the success of our media initiatives,” says Gelineau. “I warmly recommend Leyard and SAV services to any organisation seeking innovative solutions and exceptional partners.”

“It was a fantastic project to be part of, and Leyard has been with us every step of the way, from pre-sales to project management,” concludes Piquois. “Leyard’s VEM solution is a perfect fit for the studio and fulfills all the team’s objectives. The pixel pitch provides a wide viewing angle while boasting a creative cabinet structure design. Overall, it’s a perfect ten for teamwork, and the Frandroid team can now enjoy their high-tech web TV studio equipped with the latest LED technology.”
