Blackmagic Design has unveiled the URSA Cine 12K LF Body, a more affordable, body-only version of the URSA Cine 12K, ideal for experienced cinematographers and rental houses with existing accessories.
Priced at $6,995, this model retains all the performance and quality of the full kit but omits components like shoulder mounts, handles, batteries, and lenses. Customers can purchase these separately to build their ideal rig.
The camera features the same large-format 12K sensor as the full kit, offering impressive image quality with 16 stops of dynamic range and high frame rates—224 fps in 8K 2.4:1 and 80 fps in 12K. It also includes a CFexpress media module with dual slots, and supports EF lens mounts as standard, with PL and LPL mounts available for purchase.
Blackmagic said this model is perfect for filmmakers upgrading to the URSA Cine platform, providing a cost-effective path to 12K resolution and compatibility with Blackmagic Cloud. It also supports live streaming, has a built-in optical low-pass filter for improved image fidelity, and integrates seamlessly with DaVinci Resolve for efficient post-production. Despite the body-only setup, it maintains industry-standard features for high-end film production.
