Fiction Mallorca Pitch and Evolution Mallorca International Film Festival have come together to collaborate in the third edition of the development projects forum, which will take place on October 17th at Sa Societat Theatre (Calvià , Mallorca), the official site of the Fiction Mallorca Pitch event.
With the aim of promoting the audiovisual industry in the Balearic Islands, Evolution Mallorca International Film Festival and Fiction Mallorca Pitch have decided to join forces to strengthen the sector and provide opportunities for creators who work from and to the islands. This collaboration will allow not only the creation of new projects, but also the promotion of the culture and resources of the balearic islands. In addition, this union reinforces Mallorca’s position as an attractive destination for the audiovisual industry, generating economic and social opportunities in the Islands.
The submissions period to participate in this fiction pitching forum will be open until May 12, 2023. The objective of this meeting is to bring together professionals from the local, national and international audiovisual sector who work as executive producers, script and directors and who have a fiction project for film or television with special interest for the Balearic industry, either to export talent or invest in the islands.
The Fiction Mallorca Pitch continues its path as audiovisual MICE working on the development, offering training and promotion of the Balearic audiovisual industry, with the clear objective of consolidating itself as a reference meeting for film industry and the meeting of professionals at a local, national and international level. through its guests and the projects registered to participate in this forum. In this 2023 edition, again with the support of the Calvià City Council and the Calvià Film Office, the Mallorcan municipality (Calvià ) is again the official site for the third consecutive year.
To submit projects in the 3rd Edition of the project development forum at Fiction Mallorca Pitch, it is necessary to fill out a submission form for each project at fictionmallorcapitch.es/inscripcion-foro or the Evolution Mallorca International Film Festival submissions platform https://filmfreeway.com/EvolutionMallorcaInternationalFilmFestival.
A link must be attached to a project dossier of maximum 10 pages hosted in the cloud and the completed financing plan model, available here.
It is recommended to have 10% of the financing confirmed. The following film and television formats can be registered in this edition: feature films, miniseries/fiction series. Submissions are open to both production companies and individuals who are self-employed and are registered with the IAE in some activity related to audiovisual production. Each company or professional can submit up to 2 projects per creator or company and, at most, 1 project per professional or company will be selected.
Among all the projects received, a second phase will be carried out with the 16 best projects (8 feature films and 8 television fiction) that pass as the best valued and must send a 3-minute Video-Pitch for the final evaluation. A Committee of Experts will select 5 feature film projects and 5 TV series projects to pitch in front of prominent agents from the audiovisual sector.
Of the selected projects, 50% will be projects led by women in the script, production and/or direction. Likewise, among those selected there will be projects by companies and/or creators from the Balearic Islands and other parts of the world that have a special interest in an organic production and/or co-production with the Balearic Islands.
The pitching day of the 3rd edition of the Fiction Mallorca Pitch will take place during the days prior to the Evolution Mallorca International Film Festival, which will be held from October 18th to November 24th in Mallorca (www.evolutionfilmfestival.com). During this event, the ten selected projects will have the opportunity to present their ideas, train with panels of experts in the audiovisual industry, and generate networking for professional development. During the gala on October 17th, the WIP awards for the Best Balearic Project and WIP for the Best Pitching of the edition will be presented.

It is essential that the audiovisual industry is aware of its environmental impact and works to reduce its carbon footprint. In this sense, the Fiction Mallorca Pitch has a special interest in projects that promote sustainability and social responsibility at all stages of production, from pre-production to distribution. In this way, the event not only fosters creativity and innovation in the audiovisual industry, but also promotes sustainable practices that are respectful of the environment.
