Creative studio Coffee & TV has appointed Executive VFX Producer Clare Cheetham and Executive VFX Supervisor Jonathan Cheetham to lead the Film & TV visual effects department.
Following the opening of the company’s new Farringdon studio, these key hires are the next step in the Coffee & TV Group’s evolution.
Following the success of its recent VFX work on Academy Award-nominated feature Tár, Mathew Vaughn’s upcoming features and the BBC’s iconic TV series Peaky Blinders, B Corp Certified Coffee & TV is galvanising its foray into Film and TV with these two senior appointments.
Emmy award-winning VFX Producer Clare (Chernobyl, The Martian, Altered Carbon, This is England) whose impressive career spans over two decades, will spearhead Coffee & TV’s Film & TV division. Clare, who has previously held senior roles at Double Negative and Framestore, will play a key role in managing the department’s continued growth and talent development.
Jonathan is an incredibly skilled VFX Supervisor, with over 25 years’ experience in the industry. He has overseen many high-end projects, with TV credits including Stranger Things S4, The Book of Boba Fett, Watchmen, Gangs of London and feature film credits including Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Matilda the Musical, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Guardians of the Galaxy, to name but a few.
Clare Cheetham, Executive VFX Producer at Coffee & TV said: “I have admired the ethos of Coffee & TV for many years. I am really excited by this opportunity; Coffee & TV is such a refreshing place to be. It is lovely to be around people who are so passionate about the work they do and approach everything with such enthusiasm. It is very easy to see why Coffee & TV have twice won the ‘Best Place to Work in TV’ award. This truly is a company that puts people at the forefront of the business. It is so great to know that artists are supported and nurtured which is clearly reflected in the client experience and quality of work produced.”
Having previously run a VFX department with Clare 9 years ago, Jonathan says, “I am looking forward to working together again, especially in this fantastic environment, combining our broad industry experience with Coffee & TV’s outstanding creative and technical foundations. We cannot wait to work with the hugely talented team and build upon this in our upcoming shows. The amazing slate of projects so far is just the beginning of establishing this department as a major player in the industry.”
Clare and Jonathan’s appointments follow an exciting period of growth for the Coffee & TV Group. 2022 saw the launch of picture finishing specialists ‘Residence Pictures’, which opened for business last spring. A new 8000 sq.ft. facility opening in March 2023, including a Dolby Atmos grading theatre, will provide a stunning new collaborative space for the whole team.
MD, Leonie Moreton says “Clare and Jonathan joining us demonstrates our commitment to being the very best in the industry, by hiring the very best in the industry. They are not just exceptional professionals, they are exceptional human beings as well and I know they will thrive in Coffee & TV’s wonderful culture of support and creativity”.
