Cinec returns in congress format for 2022 edition
Aug 19, 2022
Cinec, Germany’s international tradeshow for cinema equipment and technology, has announced that it will adopt a congress format for its 2022 edition.
Ebner Media Group and specialist magazine Film & TV Kamera, the event’s organisers, have announced that they have changed the focus of the show from an exhibition to a conference exploring the content-related issues of cinematography. Its new iteration, cineCongress, will take place on 16 September in the new venue of the University of Television and Film Munich.
“We have had to cancel the cinec Expo with a heavy heart for this year, but we will now be offering a top-class programme which will deal with the current technical trends in filmmaking and, in close cooperation with the BVK, BVFK, BSC and ASC, will also address important industry-related issues,” said Marco Parrillo, CEO of Ebner Media Group. “There will be a panel about the shortage of skilled workers, concerns about young talent, and fair pay, for example. Another panel deals with questions of diversity and equality in the film industry.”
The more technical and practical aspects of cinematography will also be on the agenda. “We will offer lectures on frequency management on set and on virtual production with the Sony VENICE 2, and industry legend Dedo Weigert will talk about new tools and new practices in image creation,” Parrillo added.
Although the exhibition side of the show won’t be taking place, attendees will still be able to see products and solutions from companies including Cinetica, Sony, Xinegear and Shure in the foyer of the University of Television and Film Munich. Then, in the evening, the Film & TV Kamera Awards will champion the best products in the following categories: camera, light, sound, grip and accessories, and lenses.
