Aug 18, 2022
Ten industry professionals were invited to hone their knowledge of the Cine Reflect Lighting System (CRLS) in the latest successful GBCT workshop, held on 17 August in partnership with The Light Bridge.Â
Supported by partners including British Cinematographer magazine, the Sony Digital Motion Picture Centre (DMPC), Movietech, Cooke Optics, and Prolight Direct, the session took place at Buckinghamshire’s storied Pinewood Studios. The jam-packed day at the Sony DMPC saw the experienced cohort of DPs, camera operators and gaffers discover the CRLS’ possibilities in a practical, hands-on environment.Â
Attendees were working under the tutelage of a team including including Jakob Ballinger, Laszlo Krasznal, Ossie Jung (Prolight Direct), Simon Evans (Sumolight), Will Newman (Sony), and Tanya Hobbs (Sony). Ballinger is the long-time gaffer of the CRLS’s inventor, DP Christian Berger (The White Ribbon, By The Sea) and his company, The Light Bridge, are the manufacturers of the CRLS.  Â
The CRLS was devised by Berger to give crew even more control over diffused and hard light, keeping time and space constraints in mind. A range of informative talks and demonstration videos of the system are available on The Light Bridge’s website. Â
