Annika Summerson BSC wins at RTS Craft and Design Awards 2023 for Then You Run

The winners of the RTS Craft and Design Awards 2023, sponsored by Apple TV+, have been announced.

The awards ceremony was hosted by comedian and presenter Eddie Kadi at the London Hilton on Park Lane, commending the exceptional skills and processes that are involved in programme making.

Across the 28 competitive categories, the BBC had a victorious night receiving 14 awards, with The English winning both Costume Design – Scripted and Design Titles, and The State Funeral of HM Queen Elizabeth II for both Director – Multicamera and Multicamera Work categories.

Sky also gained several accolades, receiving six wins including two nods for Funny Woman in Production Design – Scripted and Make Up Design – Scripted.

Annika Summerson BSC picked up the Photography – Scripted award for her work on Sky’s Then You Run S1. Also nominated were Chas Appeti for Jungle, and Stephan Pehrsson BSC for SAS Rogue Heroes S1.

In the Photography – Non-Scripted category, Marcel Mettelsiefen and Jordan Bryon won for Children of the Taliban for Channel 4. Also nominated were Narayan Van Maele, Patrick Smith, Jim Incledon and Benedict Sanderson for Dublin Narcos, and Jack Wood for Kids.

Awarded at the discretion of the RTS, the Outstanding Achievement Award was given to Justine Evans, Director of Photography at BBC Studios Natural History Unit, for being an exceptional craftsperson and innovator of photography, with an unwavering courage to work in the toughest conditions across multiple expeditions. The RTS Special Award was presented to the BBC series, made by ITV Studios, Ralph & Katie, for creating invaluable content that celebrates diversity and inclusion, providing an incredibly important representation of disabled people.
