Fighting Spirit Film Festival (FSFF) is a celebration of martial arts and action movies. It’s a platform for aspiring and inspiring filmmakers, martial arts practitioners, choreographers and artists. Martial arts is the common theme of all the films – diverse in narrative, style and format, the short films come from around the world. Whether you like traditional Kung Fu, modern hard hitting action, or real life stories, there will be something for you.
Scheduled for the weekend of 10 September 2022 at Stratford East Picturehouse: Saturday will kick off at 12.00pm with a mix of fiction and documentaries in the short film screenings – Competition Part 1. There are 10 short films in both screening sessions.
A screen combat seminar which is free for anyone to attend will be hosted by stunt man, Philip D’Orléans and commence at 3.00pm – learn the ins and outs of basic screen combat from a professional on the day. There will also be a martial arts demonstration by Elbiz Bison and his team at Bison MMA.
Supported by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office and directed by King Hu – classic Wuxia adventures, The Valiant Ones å¿ çƒˆ will be screened from 5.00pm followed by a Bokator demonstration and Q&A session with Surviving Bokator Director, Mark Boschler.
Our 7th year festival will be Bruce Lee themed and we are so excited to have Mr B Johnson exhibit ‘The Silent Flute’ (Bruce Lee Memoribilia) at the festival. Items from Comic Crush (Paul Dunne), Zari of Zupcakes and FSFF merchandise will be available to purchase over the weekend.
Sunday will commence with short films in Competition Part 2 followed by feature film, Momentum (Michelle Aguilar, Director). The Short Film Awards ceremony will take place just before the closing film and this year we welcome New Day Pictures, British Cinematographer and Digital Orchard as partners for our short film awards.
The festival evening will end with Bruce Lee’s directorial debut Way of the Dragon 50th Anniversary screening – the iconic duel with Chuck Norris will be the highlight for many of this all-time classic Kung Fu flick. This screening is also supported by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office.
