VMI shortlisted for climate award
Oct 28, 2021
Having pledged to commit to net zero emissions by 2030 on the Government Business Climate Hub back in June 2021, the Government Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy were so impressed with VMI’s climate reduction measures, that they have been shortlisted for the ‘Hero of Net Zero’ award to be presented at the COP26 conference in Glasgow on 2 November 2021.
Andrew Griffith MP, UK Net Zero Business Champion said: “This came as a real surprise and it is really great to have our efforts recognised though Glasgow is a very long way to go for a short awards ceremony!”
VMI continues their quest to make changes to every area of our business and last week retired all of theirtungsten lighting, as it was incompatible with their climate reduction strategy.
Last week, Barry was also a guest at a live webcast last week of an event to help businesses consider the opportunities stemming from the transition to a low carbon economy.
VMI were invited to tell the story of our journey to net zero to help other companies to make the leap and commitment to make the same sustainability commitment.
