Ethical jewellery brand From the Silver Screen has announced a unique collaboration with Focus Features and acclaimed filmmaker Wes Anderson: a limited-edition necklace crafted from silver reclaimed directly from the celluloid film reels of Anderson’s upcoming feature The Phoenician Scheme. The film, a Palme d’Or contender at Cannes this weekend, premieres exclusively in UK cinemas on 23 May.
Each necklace features a hand grenade-shaped pendant—a nod to a key prop in the film—cast using silver extracted from microscopic silver halide crystals embedded in the reels used during production. With just 400 pieces available, each pendant is individually numbered and engraved, offering what the brand calls a literal and metaphorical “piece of film history.”
The collaboration was sparked after From the Silver Screen created a bespoke brooch for Nosferatu cinematographer Jarin Blaschke, which he wore to the BAFTAs. Impressed, Focus Features approached the brand for a commemorative piece tied to The Phoenician Scheme. Wes Anderson personally approved the partnership and design.
“Wes Anderson is synonymous with meticulous visual storytelling, and this collaboration transforms that signature style into wearable art with genuine cinematic provenance,” said Natalie Daniels, co-founder of From the Silver Screen.
The brand was founded in 2023 by Daniels and Claire Richardson, both former film industry professionals. After working with Kodak at Pinewood Studios, they discovered that silver reclaimed from traditional film processing was being reused in jewellery, but without any reference to its cinematic origins.
“That was our lightbulb moment,” said Daniels. “We asked ourselves—what if that silver could retain its story? What if film lovers could literally wear a piece of their favourite movie?”
With technical support from Cinelab Film & Digital, the founders developed a proprietary process to ethically extract, refine, and forge the silver into sterling jewellery. Each piece is handmade in London’s Hatton Garden and hallmarked by the Goldsmiths’ Company Assay Office, guaranteeing both quality and origin.
While the brand has previously released pieces linked to other film productions, this is believed to be the world’s first jewellery collection made with fully traceable silver from a single movie title.
The Phoenician Scheme collection is available exclusively from 23 May at www.fromthesilverscreen.co.uk and select boutique retailers, coinciding with the film’s UK release. The film opens in New York and Los Angeles on 30 May, with a wider US release on 6 June.
