Timothée Chalamet takes the stage at Eastbrook Studios

Eastbrook Studios London hosted a recent live stream starring Timothée Chalamet.

Filmed by Director of Photography Fraser Rigg and Directed by Aidan Zamiri at Object & Animal, the production featured the Oscar nominated actor contemplating imagery displayed via a custom built LED volume, before launching into a spirited ‘celebratory dance’ sequence.

Hosted on the newly opened stages at Eastbrook, the studio was initially appraised by award winning Cinematographer Greig Fraser, who assumed the role of producer for the project. Seeking a vast space with a semi-industrial feel, Greig dropped in on the London campus, to check out stages 4 and 5. The undressed ‘mega space’ proved to be the ideal setting.

Speaking about the stages, Greig says, “The studio looks fantastic and the stages there are awesome. Excited to shoot there one day!”

The piece opens with the actor slumped in front of a giant video wall. The flown 42 x 42ft LED structure, created using ROE CB5, fed via Disguise media servers, was supplied and configured by video experts, VSS.

With cleverly appointed, minimal lighting, dropping off into the depths of the shadows at the perimeter of the huge sound stage, the bright LED screen provided an ethereal, atmospheric backdrop, before the action segues from ‘still life’ into a stroboscopic celebration.

Having such a vast area to work with allowed both Chalamet and Cinematographer Rigg, to move freely around each other within the space, as the performance transitioned from a fairly static opening to an athletic, pulsating, euphoric finale.

Speaking about the shoot, Eastbrook Studios Managing Director, Brantley Bissette said, “It was a pleasure to support the crew on this project. We have the capacity to host production on a grand scale, and this was a really creative use of the space. Wonderful to see that the stream has received tens of thousands of views”.
