DP Forrest uses book pre-sale to help restore sight for 58 people

Feb 5, 2025

Director of Photography Trevor Forrest has launched a powerful initiative to address cataract blindness by pre-selling his upcoming book The Things Between Us in collaboration with CureBlindness.org. The goal? To raise enough funds for 58 cataract surgeries, helping individuals regain their sight under the expert care of Dr. Geoff Tabin, an eye surgeon and founder of CureBlindness.org.

Forrest, who has long believed in the power of visual arts to inspire change, sees this project as a proof of concept for something much bigger.

“I collaborated with CureBlindness.org to pre sell my book ‘The Things Between Us’ to raise enough money to help 58 people have Cataract Blindness operations to regain their sight under the care of Geoff Tabin, Eye Surgeon who founded Cureblindness.Org 58 people , was the proof of concept that I was looking for to drive us forward to helping 500 people regain their eyesight by my selling every copy that I am publishing,” he explained. “But more importantly it proves that the Visual Arts can play a play in Curing this type of blindness permanently. My end game is to go to the studios once we have helped 500 to ask them to help 5000 or more.”

Forrest added that art and film have “always reached to help others see the things that are hidden”.

For those interested in supporting the initiative, the GoFundMe page offers an easy way to donate and share the cause with others.
