Mar 7, 2024

The 2024 edition of the CHANEL X BIFF Asian Film Academy, a pioneering training scheme dedicated to discovering and developing the next generation of Asian filmmakers, is now open for applications.

Chanel has been a patron of the arts for more than 100 years. Extending this commitment into the next generation, this partnership with the Asian Film Academy aims to create the conditions for emerging new talent to shape the future of Asian cinema.

Selected from across Asia, 24 filmmakers will be supported to write, direct, and produce original short films, which will be screened at the 29th edition of the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) in Busan, South Korea, in October 2024.

Over 20 days from September 2024, the Academy will provide a diverse curriculum of workshops, mentoring schemes, and masterclasses, allowing participants to collaborate and innovate across cultures.

The Academy was founded in 2005 and relaunched in 2022 as CHANEL X BIFF Asian Film Academy with Chanel’s support. A total of 407 filmmakers from 35 countries have been produced under the guidance of some of Asia’s most esteemed filmmakers.

Aspiring filmmakers interested in joining the CHANEL X BIFF Asian Film Academy can find more information and details about the application process on the official website (https://bafa.biff.kr/eng/). Applications are open until 18:00 (KST), 12 April 2024.

Meanwhile, the 2024 CHANEL X BIFF Asian Film Academy will be held from 22 September to 11 October 2024.
