2024 Young Arrows awards are free-to-enter for the first time

May 17, 2024

The Young Arrows awards have launched for 2024 and are free-to-enter for the first time, removing the financial barrier that often blocks emerging talent from entering.

The Young Arrows’ mission is to spotlight and celebrate emerging talent in the UK moving image advertising industry, aiming to foster greater accessibility and build the diverse and inclusive talent pool that’s vitally needed for our industry to flourish.

Open to all those with less than three years’ experience in their current role, work can be submitted across 18 distinct categories and entries close on 4th September. The winning work will be showcased this October at the inspiring awards show hosted by Reggie Yates at HERE at Outernet in central London.

Simon Cooper, Chairman of the British Arrows said, “Investing in our future talent will expand the potential of the UK moving image advertising industry and ensure we’re future-fit, inclusive and representative. We’re delighted to make the awards free-to-enter and we’re calling on the industry to encourage emerging talent to enter.”

Lisa Lavender, Managing Director of the British Arrows said, “As we kick-off our third year, we have been totally overwhelmed by the response to the Young Arrows initiative. This year is a big one as we drop all entry fees to make the awards even more accessible, this wouldn’t be possible without the support of our amazing sponsors and partners. We are really excited to see the breadth of work coming through and look out for a future announcement regarding our first Young Arrows special award!”

Karrie Goldberg, Managing Director of HERE at Outernet said, “HERE at Outernet are delighted to be partnering with the British Arrows hosting this year’s annual Young Arrow awards, supporting young creators by mentoring and guiding them as they embark on their careers in the media industry. We champion leaders in the creative industries that offer the next generation a unique platform to showcase their incredible talents”.

Launched in 2022 by the not-for-profit British Arrows, which has honoured the best campaigns and craft in British moving image advertising for nearly 50 years, the Young Arrows is a successful pathway for those in the early years of their careers.

Rebecca Tzouliou, Junior Design at Electric Studios, and winner of the 2023 Young Arrows Animation: 2D, Stop Motion & CGI award, said “I didn’t realise I had been entered by my company into the Arrows, so getting nominated was the nicest surprise. To have the recognition as a Young Arrows winner at this point in my career has solidified that I made the right decision to pursue my passion. It has inspired me to push through the boundaries I had unknowingly set myself. British Arrows, here I come!”

Eden Read, Film Editor at The Assembly Rooms, and winner of the 2023 Young Arrows Editing award, said “The Young Arrows gave me confidence in my work and enabled me to connect with so many amazing industry people. I feel very grateful to be one of the winners from 2023 and encourage all young emerging talent to give it a go, you never know where it may take you”.
