Warner Bros. Studios’ 100th anniversary celebrations unveiled

Warner Bros. Discovery has announced a calendar of events and releases for the 100th anniversary of Warner Bros. Studios. The official anniversary is 4 April 2023, with key celebration events and releases taking place across the UK and Ireland over the course of the year. The centennial marks an astounding history that has been signposted by some of the world’s most beloved films and iconic television shows.

Warner Bros. will be running a year-long theatrical release schedule focusing on beloved classics, newly remastered films and key anniversaries. Feature titles include a re-release of Superman the Movie on 7 April, to coincide with the 85th anniversary of the titular character. The Exorcist is also slated for 29 September, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the horror classic. A new IMAX version of fan favourite Elf will be released on 24 November. Further releases will be announced soon, giving fans the opportunity to relive the magic of seeing their favourite Warner Bros. Studios films in crystal clear detail.

Warner Bros. has also announced a series of special screenings at BFI Southbank and BFI IMAX across 2023, which starts with Superman the Movie at BFI Southbank on 2 April.

In addition, in partnerhip with the Dublin International Film Festival, a restoration of Cool Hand Luke will screen on 27 February. This screening will also include an exclusive Q&A with Oscar-nominated filmmaker Lenny Abramson, discussing the impact of the film as a key influence on his extensive career.

As part of the company’s global centennial campaign, Warner Bros. Discovery Global Themed Entertainment and Fever recently launched ‘Candlelight: 100 Years of Warner Bros.’, a commemorative international concert series coming to 100 cities worldwide including London. The series will feature music from award-winning films and unforgettable television shows from the studio’s history, including The Wizard of Oz, Batman, Friends, The Lord of The Rings & Inception. The one-of-a-kind musical experiences are taking place in majestic venues, such as iconic cathedrals, theatres, museums and gardens with breath-taking candlelit decor. The concert series will begin in April and run through December 2023.

Moreover, Warner Bros. has confirmed that its partners are developing a line of products including collectible toys, gifts and fashion pieces to celebrate the centenary. These products will be available from a wide range of retailers with more information to be revealed soon. Additionally, a new four-part documentary will be released celebrating the 100th anniversary.

Warner Bros. recently unveiled a series of three 4K 5-film bundles and a brand new 30-film Studio Collection Box Set to celebrate Warner Bros. Studios’ centennial. Fans will soon be able to own 4K remastered versions of the studio’s most iconic films, ranging from the 1930s to modern day available for the first time in 4K Ultra-High Definition.

To mark the occasion, Warner Bros. has refreshed a selection of classic films with 4K restorations, allowing modern audiences to enjoy the studio’s iconic filmography in enhanced crystal-clear quality. For the first time, ten new titles such as The Exorcist (1973), Enter the Dragon (1973) and more to be announced will be available in previously unmatched clarity.
