Virtual production specialist VSS has partnered with ARRI in creating one of Europe’s “largest and most technologically advanced” VP facilities at ARRI Stage London.

Offering over 700sqm of creative space, the newly upgraded state-of-the-art studio installation provides a “complete virtual solution”, allowing users to build “highly detailed, fully immersive virtual environments within a self-contained, dedicated space”.

Available pre-configured as 24m 180° or 36m ‘J’ stage layouts, the main wall stands at 6.5m, reportedly making it the UK’s tallest fixed volume.

With a 10m floated ceiling and flanked by extendable LED ‘wild wall’ side sections, the ultra-flexible configuration allows “almost infinite possibilities to create complex environments, whilst maintaining full control over content, lighting and movement”.

Speaking about the stage, VSS director of TV & film, Nic Maag, said, “Our update to the ARRI Stage uses some of the most advanced technology available. The scale, flexibility and processing power of the installation is capable of creating a huge variety of immersive virtual environments.

“We’re really looking forward to working with production to push the boundaries of what can be achieved within this exceptional space.”

Built around ROE LED technology, and paired with Brompton processing and Nuke Stage playback software, the system provides responsive, precise management across all aspects of image delivery.

This combination of power and versatility makes ARRI Stage a “perfect choice” for any production type, a press release said, from features and hi-end television through to commercials and music video projects.

The ‘plug and play’ nature of the volume also makes it ideal for corporate use such as product launches and company presentations.

Matt Eve, VSS director of corporate events, added, “A key feature of the space is its adaptability. The flexible nature of the volume means we can fully support complex movies or hi-end TV shoots, whilst being equally suited to corporate or commercial purposes.

“Having our technical teams on-site means we are always here, ready to support clients in realising even the most adventurous artistic vision.”

The facility also features a wealth of well appointed amenities, such as furnished offices and green rooms, hair and make-up, dining space and canal-side exterior areas.

Being located just to the west of London, ARRI Stage offers convenient access to both the capital and major regional production hubs.

Having already hosted titles including Luther: The Fallen Sun and Knuckles, plus commercial shoots for the likes of AMG Mercedes and Amazon, ARRI Stage is a “proven creative powerhouse, ready to welcome virtually any type of production”.
