EnergaCAMERIMAGE Film Festival has announced that it will close with a special screening of Song Sung Blue.
The musical drama directed by Craig Brewer and shot by cinematographer Amy Vincent ASC will serve as a “unique finale” to this year’s edition of the festival, which runs from 15-22 November in Toruń, Poland.
Song Sung Blue is a moving story inspired by Greg Kohs’ 2008 documentary about a couple from Milwaukee – Mike and Claire Sardina – who form a tribute band dedicated to the music of Neil Diamond.
The film stars Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson in the leading roles.
Cinematographer Vincent, known for her collaboration with Brewer on films such as Hustle & Flow, is responsible for the film’s visual style – and she will introduce the screening in Toruń.
The film combines elements of biography, music and melodrama, with its visual form playing a crucial role in telling a story about passion, love and art.
EnergaCAMERIMAGE revealed: “The choice of this title for the EnergaCAMERIMAGE finale is no coincidence. Craig Brewer’s film is one in which image and music form a cohesive whole, with the camera work becoming one of the main means of expressing emotion.
“We couldn’t imagine a better conclusion to this year’s edition. Song Sung Blue beautifully and sensitively portrays the power of image and sound in cinema.”
