Richard Ashcroft’s new music video ‘Lover’ Powered by CUBE StudioX
Jun 2, 2025
Richard Ashcroft (former lead singer of The Verve) makes a striking return with Lover, a soaring, soul-led anthem that captures hope, power, and performance now matched by an equally immersive music video powered by CUBE StudioX.
Co-produced by Roy Kimani, Co-founder of CUBE Studio, and Deane Thrussell, Director of Photography, the project embodies the purpose of CUBE StudioX, bringing virtual production directly to creators. In this case, an 18-metre LED virtual production volume created a fully immersive canvas, wrapping Richard’s performance in vivid, cinematic visuals without the constraints of traditional studio setups.
According to NME, Lover is a “buoyant, soul-tinged ballad that sees Ashcroft digging deep to find light in the darkness.” Following his support slot for Oasis’ Knebworth anniversary and an emotional appearance at Teenage Cancer Trust, Lover feels like a full-circle moment one of new energy and intent, especially as Ashcroft prepares to join Liam Gallagher on tour once again with Oasis, rekindling a musical legacy that shaped a generation.
Roy Kimani, Co-founder & Director of Innovation at CUBE Studio said: “CUBE StudioX was built for moments like this. It’s virtual production, unboxed! It’s virtual production designed to move with the idea.
“From campaigns, activations and live shows to music videos like Lover, CUBE StudioX empowers the artists, creators, production companies, agencies…to produce and create bold work, wherever they are.
This isn’t just a return for Richard Ashcroft, it’s the start of something new. The studio of the future, CUBE StudioX.”
