Film Locos launches, aiming to create content and opportunities for the Latin community

Film Locos is a platform created to share Latin American stories within the UK.

There are around 150 thousand Latin Americans living in the UK, yet their voices are not being heard to their full potential. In response to this, Film Locos came to be, creating content and opportunities for the Latin community.

In the past, Film Locos has created and produced drama series, monologues, short films, as well as serving as a platform to showcase content created by Latinos within the UK. At the moment, Film Locos is creating season one of Latin American shorts.

Who’s behind the team?

Victor Ríos: CEO/founder of Film Locos, originally from Bolivia. He’s one of the producers and editors of Season one and will also direct the short film Nobody, a drama about two very different sisters, Written by Santiago del Fosco, who struggle to connect.

Raquel Arraes is a professional actor and director from Brazil, with over 20 years of experience. She produced, co-directed and acted in the film I Am Frida Kahlo, an award winning Best Experimental Film by FIFF London. For this season, she co-wrote, alongside fellow Brazilians based in Ireland Fabiane Mello and Fillipe Lezo, Hands On, a drama about A hardworking Brazilian woman who struggles with life-work balance.

Andrea Pérez, from Caracas, Venezuela. She’s an MA TV Drama Production graduate from Salford Uni. Based in Manchester, she works as Media & Marketing support and is one of the producers for the Film Locos Latin American Shorts Season one.

“The plan is to release these films one by one, once a month throughout the rest of the year, on our YouTube channel after a screening in London, Manchester and Oxford. We want to show the world that our stories as Latinos matter. It’s also crucial to bring an open mind and diversity of cast and storytelling to the equation. Nothing by accident.” Said CEO/founder of Film Locos, Victor Rios.
