EnergaCAMERIMAGE International Film Festival has announced the nominees for its student competition, represented this year by a record number of 23 films.
First held in 1997, the Film and Art School Etudes Competition (formerly the Student Etudes Competition) “supports the development of novice filmmakers and provides a unique opportunity to celebrate the cinematic achievements of students from film schools all around the world”, the organisation said.
Each year, the winners are chosen by an international jury of acclaimed filmmakers and industry professionals.
The winner of best cinematography receives the coveted László Kovács Student Award – the Golden Tadpole.
The Polish Filmmakers Association will also present the winner with a cheque for PLN 10,000.
Among the nominees this year is National Film and Television School student Antonia Schäfer, for her film They Made You Into a Weapon and Told You to Find Peace.
Beyond the main award, the student competition also recognises the second- and third-place entries with the Silver Tadpole and the Bronze Tadpole respectively.
