DGA announces Directors Guild of America Awards winners

The winners of the Directors Guild of America Awards for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in 2025 have been announced during the 78th Annual DGA Awards at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills. 

Paul Thomas Anderson won the DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Theatrical Feature Film for One Battle After Another.

Associate director/stage manager David Charles was the recipient of the Franklin J. Schaffner Achievement Award, which recognises extraordinary service to the industry and the Guild, and commercials 1st AD Gregory G. McCollum was the recipient of the Frank Capra Achievement Award, which is given in recognition of notable career achievements and for outstanding service to the DGA.

Elsewhere, Charlie Polinger scooped First-Time Theatrical Feature Film for The Plague, Amanda Marsalis took Dramatic Series for her work on The Pitt episode “6:00 P.M.”, and Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg won Comedy Series for “The Oner” episode of The Studio

Shannon Murphy’s work on Dying for Sex’s “It’s Not That Serious” episode saw her take Limited & Anthology Series, and Stephen Chbosky scooped Movies for Television for Nonnas.  

Kumail Nanjiani hosted the ceremony before an audience of more than 1,000 guests – the full list of winners is available on the DGA website.
