BSC welcomes nine Full and five Associate Members to society’s ranks

The British Society of Cinematographers (BSC) has welcomed nine new Full Members and five new Associate Members to its ranks.

Cinematographers Stuart Biddlecombe, Jamie Cairney, Joel Devlin, Nicola Daley ACS, Catherine Goldschmidt, Stuart Howell, Kelvin Richard, Ed Rutherford, and Benedict Spence are now all Full Members of the society. Joining them as Associate Members are Jason Ewart ACO, Dave Hamilton-Green, Charlie Rizek ACO, Derek Walker ACO, and Tom Wilkinson.

Stuart Biddlecombe BSC‘s vast oeuvre ranges from British series Doctor Who and Sherlock to Emmy-winning The Handmaid’s Tale, for which he was nominated for an ASC Award.

Jamie Cairney BSC has worked across a wide range of TV shows, from Channel 4’s Flowers to streaming sensation Sex Education.

Joel Devlin BSC was nominated for an Emmy for his work on US documentary series Mankind: The Story of All of Us, and has worked on a number of top TV productions this side of the pond too, including Broken and His Dark Materials. 

Nicola Daley BSC ACS, already a member of the Australian Cinematographers Society, is based in the UK where she works on some of the biggest British shows, including Gentleman Jack and The Handmaid’s Tale.

Catherine Goldschmidt BSC was nominated for an ASC award this year for her work on HBO’s unmissable House of the Dragon, and also founded changemaking female DP collective ‘illuminatrix’.

Stuart Howell BSC stepped up to the role of cinematographer after many years making an impact as a camera operator in the industry, earning himself ACO and Associate BSC membership in the process. His work as a DP includes The Peripheral, Catherine The Great and The Crown.

Kelvin Richard BSC has enjoyed a career spanning many years in the camera department, shooting award-winning dramas, documentaries and commercials, including Idris Elba’s TV comedy-drama creation In the Long Run seasons two and three, McDonald & Dodds, and working as 2nd unit DP on the Emmy-winning Netflix show Bridgerton.

Ed Rutherford BSC‘s work spans film and TV, including Joanna Hogg’s most recent film The Eternal Daughter. His latest project, The Long Shadow, is due for release later this year.

Benedict Spence BSC‘s work on The End of the F**king World 2 was nominated for an Emmy; he’s also lensed the BAFTA-winning This is Going to Hurt and In My Skin.

Jason Ewart ACO Assoc. BSC‘s remarkable credits as an operator include The Batman, No Time to Die and Luther: The Fallen Son.

Dave Hamilton-Green Assoc. BSC has lent his operating expertise to productions including Andor, Small Axe and I May Destroy You.

Charlie Rizek ACO Assoc. BSC‘s standout work with the ARRI Trinity system has made him a sought-after collaborator. His credits include Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning, 1917 and Peaky Blinders.

Derek Walker ACO Assoc. BSC‘s exceptional work as an operator includes Andor, Magic Mike’s Last Dance and The King’s Man.

Tom Wilkinson ACO Assoc. BSC is an operator whose stellar work includes Liaison, All The Old Knives and the upcoming Gran Turismo.
