
The British Urban Film Festival has confirmed its slate of UK premieres, screenings and industry events for London audiences as it returns to the capital this October for its 20th anniversary.
The festival opens at Odeon Greenwich on Friday 10 and Saturday 11 October, before moving to Rich Mix Shoreditch (17-18 October) and Genesis Cinema, Mile End (20-23 October).
The BUFF Awards Ceremony will be held at Genesis on Friday 24 October.
The festival launches with the UK premiere of Inmates with Talent, a documentary that brings the talent show format into US prisons, featuring Ice-T.
Other notable London premieres include:
- An Enemy Within (William Moseley, Tristan Gemmill)
- Tapped (Elijah Baker, Jessica Impiazzi)
- Letters to Goddo (dir. Harry Bentil)
- Fatherless No More (featuring former Super Bowl champion Tim Johnson)
- Water Girl (Stella Damasus)
- Hope – Beyond Rape, Murder and War Crimes (with George Clooney and NGO The Sentry)
- Skategoat (executive produced by Gwyneth Paltrow and featuring a soundtrack by Tyler, the Creator)
In total, the festival will showcase over 70 screenings across London.
Emmanuel Anyiam-Osigwe, BUFF founder and festival director, said: “BUFF has always been a platform for diverse storytelling in the UK, and this 20th anniversary edition celebrates the passion, creativity and talent that drive independent urban cinema.”
BUFF’s Awards Ceremony will honour actor and filmmaker Femi Oyeniran with an honorary prize presented by Aml Ameen, while the Best Actor Award will pay tribute to the late Anthony Adjekum, commemorating his contribution to the UK film scene.
