Aputure has previewed the Storm CS32, the brightest fully tunable colour fixture in its point source line of LED lights.
The Storm CS32 is “the brightest COB light in the industry to feature Aputure’s advanced BLAIR-CG light engine, with an output rivalling a 4K HMI, excellent saturated colours across the visible light spectrum, and exceptional tunable white light, all while maintaining a small size and weight for single person operation”.
“Our goal was the impossible light,” explained Mitch Gross, director of marketing for Aputure.
“Can we make a fixture with no compromises in light output and light quality yet still remain lightweight?
“With each new product our engineers push to cram in as much performance as possible while continuing to reduce size and slash weight.
“We made the light work under any available power. You can plug it into a household 120v socket and the Storm CS32 will automatically switch itself to the maximum that circuit can deliver. Switch cables for a higher powered circuit to deliver another 25% of light output that’s equivalent in brightness to a 4K HMI.”
Highlights of the Storm CS32 – provided by Aputure – are available below.
The best quality colour spectrum with the greatest range of adjustability
- BLAIR-CG Light Engine
- SSI [P3200]: 93, SSI [CIE D5600]: 92
- Indigo for natural fluorescence, Extended Red for richer skin tones
- 1800-20,000K CCT range
- 100% +/- Green adjustment (full ASC MITC range)
- HSIC+ and x,y coordinate colour tuning covering more than 90% of Rec2020 Output
Equivalent to a 4K HMI
- 105,300 Lux (medium reflector at 3M, 5600K)
Small size and low weight
The CS32 can be carried with the lamp head in one hand and the control box + cables in the other.
- CS32 Lamp Head: 17kg (size = 36×39.7×33.1cm)
- CS32 Control Box: 10.8kg (size = 34.5x16x37.6cm)
The Storm CS32 is expected to be released in Q3 2026, with more information to follow, and it is previewing at the NAB Show in Las Vegas, 19-22 April.
