Telluride Film Festival has announced its official 2025 programme selections, with over 60 feature films, shorts and revival programmes representing more than 30 countries throughout the event.

These films will screen alongside tributes, conversations, panels and student programmes in TFF’s “annual celebration of artistic excellence”.

The festival runs from today (29 August) until Monday 1 September in the mountain town of Telluride, Colorado.

Highlights include Kelly Reichardt’s crime drama The Mastermind, Richard Linklater’s Jean-Luc Godard biopic Nouvelle Vague and Werner Herzog’s latest documentary Ghost Elephants

The festival also boasts the world premiere of the Jeremy Allen White-led Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere, with other debuts including Edward Berger’s Ballad of a Small Player and Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet.

Academy Award-winning producer and filmmaker Ezra Edelman is this year’s Guest Director, producing a programme that offers audiences “a fresh lens through which to explore cinema history”.

The documentarian behind O.J.: Made in America has handpicked films including All the President’s Men and Malcolm X as part of his powerful line-up.

“It is almost impossible to detect themes across culture at the moment given the absolutely fractured nature of our world,” said TFF director Julie Huntsinger.

“Certainly, filmmakers are talking about myriad subjects. At Telluride, though, there always seems to be a thread of beautiful humanism in the stories told, and this year is no different.

“At the heart of every one of them is the essence of humanity that is profoundly illuminating and beautiful, even if they’re also heartbreaking.

“We’re thrilled with what these filmmakers are sharing and proud to welcome back some old friends as well as new voices. Long live cinema, long live the theatrical experience.”

Oscar nominees Noah Baumbach and Ethan Hawke will receive the Silver Medallion at this year’s festival, celebrating their contribution to the art of cinema, alongside award-winning Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi.

British producer Tessa Ross will be recognised with the Festival’s Special Medallion at the presentation of Ballad of a Small Player

Meanwhile, programmes such as Filmmakers of Tomorrow, which spotlights six films from the best in student-produced work from around the globe, and Calling Cards, showcasing 10 exceptional new works by promising filmmakers, will focus on the award winners of the future.

The full programme is available on the Telluride Film Festival website.
