The Film and TV Charity has announced that Oscar-winning sound editor Johnnie Burn, acclaimed actor Ralph Ineson, and BAFTA-winning screenwriter Abi Morgan OBE are the latest prominent industry figures to join its ambassador programme.
The new ambassadors “represent the views and voices of the UK creative sector, united by a shared commitment to champion the Charity’s work to support the mental health and wellbeing of those working off camera”, the organisation said.
The Film and TV Charity continued: “They step into their roles at a time of significant challenge for the industry, as worklessness, financial hardship, and mental health struggles remain widespread.
“With a blend of personal insight, lived experience, and industry influence, they bring fresh energy and authenticity to the Charity’s mission – further strengthening its role as a compassionate and representative voice for the UK’s creative community.”
Speaking of her new role as ambassador, Morgan, known for her work in TV shows and films such as Eric and Suffragette, said: “From offering financial support and grants to legal advice, career development or help with your mental health, the Film and TV Charity is a resource that I was not even aware of coming up through the industry.
“The Charity is here for those difficult days, complex work issues, or simply when you need a friendly face. The chance to be a voice for an organisation that recognises that great work often comes from the most challenging places, and that we all need help getting there – who wouldn’t say yes?”
Ineson, an acclaimed English actor and writer renowned for his roles in projects including The Office, The Witch and, most recently, Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps, added: “Creating a culture of inclusivity should be a priority across the film and TV industry.
“Over the years, I’ve seen how good working practices can have a real, positive impact on everyone involved in the creative process, so by becoming an ambassador for the Film and TV Charity, I’m proud to help keep that vital conversation going.”
Finally, Burn, who took home an Academy Award for his work on The Zone of Interest, revealed: “I’ve spent my career exploring how sound shapes emotion – but behind every frame are people working under pressure, often giving everything of themselves to make something meaningful.
“I’m proud to be an ambassador for the Film and TV Charity because their work is about protecting those people, supporting them when life is tough, and helping our industry become one where creativity and care go hand in hand.”
